Failure is a Choice

  • It wasn’t a new idea
  • The timing was wrong
  • It wasn’t executed well
  • The story wasn’t told
  • The team was aimless
  • The schedule was undefined
  • There was no incentive to win
  • The team was too big
  • The team was too slow
  • The focus was wrong
  • There was no singular vision
  • Not committed enough
  • Not stubborn enough
  • Avoided problems
  • Team didn’t dive in
  • Lost mojo
  • Distracted with other priorities
  • They never started

Everyone fails. Ideas don’t catch on. Products don’t resonate. Team members leave. Manufacturers fold. Money disappears. Markets shrink. World changes. Things happen. Failure doesn’t need to be finite, however. Failure is only finite when you don’t start - or when you quit. Failure is a choice.
